Laconia/Meredith Public Health Network
Introduction
The Laconia/Meredith Public Health Network is managed by Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health (LRPPH). Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health is a community-based initiative formed in 2005 with the mission of improving the health and well being of the Lakes Region through inter-organizational collaboration and community and public health improvement activities.
Service Area
The municipalities served by the Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health include Alton, Belmont, Center Harbor, Gilford, Gilmanton, Laconia, Meredith, Moultonborough and Sandwich.
Partners
Lakes Region Partnership for Public Health is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of community residents and representatives from area health and human service organizations including Community Health & Hospice, LRGHealthCare, Genesis Behavioral Health, ServiceLink, Belknap-Merrimack Community Action Program, Red Cross and Lakes Region Community Services Council.
Priorities for Action
Following a set of activities to assess community health needs and local public health system capacity, has as its initial priority work areas:
- Improving health education and health promotion activities including development of activities to improve physical activity and nutrition;
- Development of a regional resource directory and participation in operations planning activities for public health emergencies;
- Enhancement of local training opportunities for local public health workers; and
- Continued development of an effective partnership and broad constituency to address pressing public health issues.
